Action Alaska Sportfishing has one boat that we use for our fishing trips. If you book with us, you will fish with Cody on the “Kimshan”. The boat is a fully customized boat built from a 1972 Bertram 35. It is 35 feet long overall, and is 13 feet wide. The main fishing platform on the back deck is 16 feet by 13 feet. 6 anglers can fish comfortably with minimal tangles on this boat. It is powered by twin diesel Cummins engines that push the boat at a speedy 23 knot cruise, and provide a top speed of just over 30 knots. Cody purchased the boat out of Virginia, had it trucked to Seattle where it was loaded onto a barge and shipped to Sitka. The boat was then stripped completely to the bare hull, and rebuilt to Cody’s specifications. All structures were replaced with composite, fiberglass, aluminum, or stainless steel. It has a full walkaround flush deck, 6 feet 6 inches of headroom in the cabin, dual heat sources, a sit down electric flush head on deck, and many other custom features that make your fishing day more productive and comfortable. The boat also has a dry exhaust, meaning that the exhaust exits the boat roughly 13 feet above the waterline. When trolling or motor mooching you will never smell diesel exhaust. Cody also uses top of the line equipment. He has custom built hydraulic downriggers that enable him to effectively troll much deeper than any other charter boat in the state. The rods are either Seeker, G loomis, or TFO. You will also find that the reels are top notch with Accurate, Avet, and Shimano reels.
